Hiili Music and references

Hiili Music was founded in the early 2000s. The company is led by Hiili Hiilesmaa (MA), a producer, recording engineer, and mixing engineer who has worked on numerous successful albums since the late 1990s. Albums produced by Hiilesmaa have sold more than six million copies worldwide, and his projects have spanned over 20 countries.

Music production has changed dramatically over the years. In 2026, artists and bands typically handle a large portion of their recording work independently in their own studios and creative spaces. Hiili Music is dedicated to supporting this modern way of working.

Projects can range from demo evaluations, individual mixing or mastering assignments, to the production of full-scale album projects.

For every artist and band, the scope, working methods, and objectives of the project are defined individually based on artistic goals and available budget. All pricing is agreed upon in advance.

Today, mixing and mastering are at the core of Hiili Music’s services. Extensive experience in music production and recording provides a comprehensive perspective on each project, helping to shape a final sound that best serves the music, the artist, and the production as a whole.

Pre-production is also a key part of the process. During this phase, song structures, arrangements, sounds, and recording plans can be developed and refined before the actual recording sessions begin.

While artists and bands can carry out much of the recording themselves, recordings can also be enhanced and finalized at the Hiili Music studio with vocals, overdubs, and other additional recording sessions when needed.
